York Light Opera Company is a York-based musical theatre group for adults (16+) who perform each year in the main house at York Theatre Royal.

Established in 1953, York Light Opera has grown from strength to strength and we pride ourselves on being a welcoming musical family producing a range of both old and new musicals to the highest standard.

We engage a professional Director / Choreographer and Musical Director, and have a wonderful team of volunteers covering all areas including Assistant Director, Dance Captain, Marketing, Wardrobe, Production Admin and Refreshments who we couldn't do without!

The company has a Management Team and Company Directors who meet regularly throughout the year.

As well as productions, we also perform at events, carol singing and fundraising and have numerous socials throughout the year including theatre trips, film and karaoke nights, meals and of course our Christmas party!
